2021-2022 Workshops

In 2021-2022, French actors are participating in 12 working groups in order to develop contributions and common positions in the perspective of the World Urban Forum 11 in Katowice. These different workshops are led by members and hosted by the PFVT.

Informal city

The members of the “informal city” working group, led by Urbanistes sans frontières, define the informal city as constituting “the entire urban and peri-urban territory which experiences substandard living conditions and/or which has developed in outside planning regulations and declared housing markets. » If in the majority of cases, these territories are subject to poverty and the informal economy, natural risks, isolation and lack of accessibility, the challenges of the informal city are nevertheless different from one city to the next. ‘other. Based on a prospective approach, this booklet explores avenues for reflection to identify the major challenges of the informal city and outlines scenarios for 2050 and proposes trajectories to remove the identified blockages.
