Affordable housing

With nearly 6.6 billion urban dwellers in 2050, according to UN projections, ensuring access to adequate and affordable housing and basic services for all is more than ever on the agenda. Focusing on this contemporary and global issue, both local and global, the Affordable Housing Working Group met to provide diverse and sustainable responses.

Recommendations

Establish a legal framework organizing relations between the actors involved in affordable housing.

Design unifying and concrete projects in a sustainable way.

Promote diversified housing models to allow access to affordable housing for all, particularly the most vulnerable populations.

Position residents as actors in their habitat.

Strengthen the training and qualification of local stakeholders in urban planning.

Rethink innovative methods of financing affordable housing.

Secure land and property titles, promote diversified and adapted models of land security.
